Drainable applications

A stoma formed using the small bowel or ileum usually produces a thick liquid output that requires a drainable appliance to alleviate the need for frequent changes.

A stoma formed using the large bowel or colon produces an output ranging from thick fluid to formed stools and this determines whether a drainable or closed appliance will be better.
